COLLECTION MARGRAVE
spring/summer 2011
Margrave: honorary title of some princes of the old Germanic provinces.
A margrave had military governor functions of a Carolingian brand, called margraviate or marquisate. As these brands were acquiring importance, they became bigger than the bordering provinces; the margraves acquired more power over the other governors of the kingdom.
Crown, power, patriarchy, masculine hierarchy.
To aspire to the power, to breathe the power. Victory.
Frustrated aspirations, prefabricated identity, identity of power: fancy dress.
To build a castle, sandcastles, castles in the air, inflatable castles for the anxiety. The crown.
The desire. Adolescent dream.
The tablecloth as royal cloak, the word like sword, own light.
Succession to the throne: imposed reality.
Old nations, nowadays princes in castles of 40 meters. The civilization.
To be a man means to have and to exercise the power.
Power and control over the rest. Superiority.
To feel, to think, to act as a man. Insatiable device. The no reason.
The no sensen of the men of power, to kill because of love. Agreed love. Imprisoned heart.
The masculinity learned in the childhood, centred on the hero. The hero, the father, the paternal figure who says how a man must be and how he must behave.
Measured, disciplined childhood. Rules of the game: Supremacy of the male.
The crown.
The way. Distance to cover silently, your silence, my silence ... obliged silence.
