COLLECTION ONE AND ONE - A ROLE PLAY
The collection was inspired by a theatre play which was created by our very society.
The actors are ourselves in the world of the two sexes.
The collection was narrated through different acts as if we were in the theatre.
There are three to be exact: Tradition, Change and Detachment.
Philosophy:
What is the relation that you find between a table, plastic flowers and Juan the chauvinist?
Or: What relation is there between strawberries, a bottle of whiskey and Maria the landlady?
It speaks about the roles of men and women, their relationships, confrontations influenced by the obligation to be beautiful, the need for independence, the desire for change which reaches the stage of detachment and moves towards a freedom from forms and rules.
- ONE AND ONE - a role play
It is about symbolism and trousers that can be converted into jackets…
Let the show begin.
Tradition
The first act shows the traditional relationship in which the man and woman find themselves.
Both of them reflect the most common and comfortable roles in relation to chauvinism, maternity as well as the strength of the beauty mentioned earlier.
Trousers for men and skirts for women are used. But only above the waist so as to express an idea of the restricted obligation that tradition dictates to us.
Change
In the second act a change takes place. The man and the woman leave their traditional roles but both of them only change their position. They still adhere to the image of the two sexes.
Men´s trousers are used for women and women´s skirts are used for men.
Detachment
In the third act the idea of the man and that of the woman are joined together until such time as a different form is discovered. This would mean the beginning of a liberation process from the image of the two sexual roles. Trousers and skirt are joined together.
Structure
This collection for men and women has a total of eleven different looks.
Skirt and trouser garments are played with in different ways. Trousers and basic t-shirts serve as a base.
Smooth and fluid materials, wool, cotton and leather are used.
Black, anthracite and grey are joined together, accompanied by touches of different colours.
Leather is used to accentuate the dark wool.
