Modakaos is an event at the very heart of the Fashion Week of Valencia that offers the possibility of participation of students from the Valencian Community, who are studying fashion (in its multiple possibilities) or fine arts during this academic year.
Each year two of these events are stipulated; the next edition will be held at the beginning of September. It corresponds to the season spring-summer 2008.
The School of Superior Art and Design of Valencia is the entity that manages Modakaos. Isabel Messegeur, a teacher at The School of Superior Art and Design of Valencia, will act as the coordinator. She will carry out the necessary tasks to develop Modakaos in the best way, and can permanently count on the management team and the department of Fashion, and be backed by the coordinator of The Fashion Week of Valencia.
At present, Modakaos is defined as a transgressor parade that involves risk, with a high level of investigation and a professional production in which there is room for all varieties of prêt-à-porter fashion; all types of register: party, bathroom, avant-garde, casual, street-wear, sportswear, etc., and all the typologies of fashion products: dresses, mixed combinations of skirt and trousers, new garments, complementary garments and any type of target with the exception of children’s clothes.
How can you participate at Modakaos?
The way to gain access to Modakaos is through a contest.
All those who wish to participate and are studying in this current academic year in the Valencian Community can do so, which means that the presentation of an authorising document will be an essential requirement: the enrolment, or if this is not possible, a photocopy of this. Students at Art and Superior Design Schools, “BBAA” (Fine Arts) and those who are involved in Training courses related to the fashion sector in both public and private education are encouraged to participate. Erasmus students can also opt to do this if they are studying in our community at the time of the contest.
Each contestant will be able to participate with a minimum of one task and a maximum of three, presented with the same slogan. From these a maximum of two may be selected. They will take part with a prototype.
The rules of the contest are communicated to the different centres by email and their directors notify their students about them.

The Selection Committee of Modakaos for Spring-summer 2008 is composed of:
Susa Plaza – a designer with her own firm. Among other companies, she has worked for Ágata Ruiz de la Prada, Sáez Merino and Saroca.
Doménech – a head of department and artist connected to fashion, with international prestige.
Susana Golf – a journalist specialised in fashion: department head in Valencia, manageress of extra Moda (extra Fashion) in the Levante daily newspaper.
Dolors Pons – a teacher of Modelling at The School of Art and Superior Design of Alcoy and a textile designer. She works with Manuel Revert and CIA.
Isabel Messeguer: a teacher at EASD (The School of Art and Superior Design) of Valencia, Theory and Practice of Design, specialised in Fashion design and is an artist in plastics. She is the coordinator of MODAKAOS
